Job Description Summary
Information Systems & Computing (ISC) is the University of Pennsylvania's central IT organization, providing the core network, data, voice, video, and enterprise application infrastructure and services upon which Penn's numerous Schools and Centers build their unique tools and capabilities.

The Sr. Business Systems Analyst will join ISC's ACIO Systems and Tools team which is responsible for the day-to-day support and maintenance of ISC's portfolio of internal tools including but not limited to Apptio, ISC's TBM Solution, BMC Helix, and Resource Management by Smartsheet.

The Sr. Business Systems Analyst will support the teams reporting and performance metrics within the departments portfolio of tools, provide system administration support and API support for data feeds, lead data modeling and reporting efforts, and support ITFM and ITSM frameworks through utilizing expertise to provide consultation to business managers and service owners, processing requests requiring data reconfiguration.

The ideal candidate is a self-starter, able to manage priorities efficiently, can focus on the small details while understanding the big picture, and can operate independently as well as on a team. They will operate within IT Financial Management (ITFM), IT Service Management (ITSM), and IT Resource Management frameworks as well as work with senior team members to collaborate on the development and implementation of automation.

Job Description

Job Responsibilities
  • Lead efforts in creating/optimizing reports/metrics in all internal tools.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance reporting in Apptio and BMC Helix through requirements gathering, working with ISC colleagues, and developing and/or modifying existing reports.
  • Support the monthly data feeds/APIs. Process requests that may require data configuration; Script/edit new request for integrations.
  • Support upgrade efforts. Usability testing where applicable. Apply quality assurance techniques to ensure integrity of solutions. Provide ongoing review of data and identifying areas of improvement
  • Provide support for helix tile creation.
  • Develop and modify reports based on client needs within internal tools reporting capabilities.
  • Monitor and provide support on implemented automation, support data uploads, and assist in creating efficiency in data load processes.
  • Work with senior team members to collaborate on the development and implementation of automation
  • Work on project teams as a subject matter expert for integration with internal tools.
  • Provide cross functional support to team members working within the teams portfolio.


Qualifications

Required:
  • Bachelor's degree and 3 to 5 years of business systems analyst experience working with large complex data sets, building complex data models (around complex IT services) and demonstrating competence on progressively complex and large-scale projects (enterprise-wide) experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
  • Demonstrated expertise in process redesign and business and systems analysis and design.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and background with enterprise IT organizations to understand the core concepts behind "running IT like a business".
  • Possess practical experience with data management and IT service including integrations, data modeling, metrics and dashboards, program portfolio management, and application / infrastructure support.
  • Proven ability to perform analysis.
  • Thorough understanding of the independent data sources between IT source systems, assets, and internal systems to reconcile data models.
  • Demonstrated self-starter, critical thinker and proven problem solver who has strong communication (verbal and written) and presentation skills.
  • Must be detailed oriented and operate with a high degree of accuracy.


Preferred:
  • ITFM, ITIL or ITSM knowledge a plus.
  • Previous experience with automation/Robotic Process Automation and REST is strongly preferred.
  • Previous experience with TBM Solution Apptio and BMC Helix is highly desirable.
